Another one for composing with Boomwhackers with the colored dice I mentioned in an earlier post (scroll down to see other uses for these!):

Game and Activity with Woodchuck Tongue Twister and Dice!

There is a Level 1 which is MUCH easier- students write in ONE letter to play for each beat of rhythmic values. Level 2 students have to write (and practice) playing different notes for EACH rhythmic value- much harder. It's a great way to differentiate for your "superstars".

Dice That Match Boomwhackers!

So I was walking through Education Express the other night and found these: I looked at them and immediately thought of Boomwhackers! These would be perfect as the colors (except the blue) match to C pentatonic! So I came up with this idea: Using these: This will be a fun center to add... I love using Boomwhackers for composition! I also came up with another one using one of the die written with letters in C pentatonic for Orff Instruments: I have another project in mind with the rest of the colored dice and it's also a composition project- hope to finish that one after school today! TWO DAYS LEFT!! WAHOO!!

Hullabaloo To U, 2! Song and Orff arrangement

I'm playing around with some silly poems this week. Here's a simple little song perfect for 3rd grade if they can handle the crossover bordun. Nice little ostinati, easy to add a simple B section to, maybe speak/play: (in 6/8 time) "Hullabaloo, Hullabaloo, to the mouse, to the waiter, to me and to you". Enjoy!

Camp Song powerpoint! FUN!!

If you don't sing camp songs at the end of the year, let me give you some encouragement- my students LOVE them and were so excited this past week when I told them that we were starting. They have asked for several we did last year- they LOVE LOVE LOVE them!!!! Here's a powerpoint file with Go Bananas- this one is crazy- if you are not familiar with this, it is a chant, not a song per se, and has actions. Look up ultimate camp resource on youtube and you'll find the basic Go Bananas song. We really love the cow part and the orange at the end has "squeeze" where everyone comes together for a gentle group hug. The kids really love this one and it's great for the end of the school year! Have fun with these!

Time for Camp Songs!

Last year at the end of the school year I started a new tradition of singing camp songs. The kids loved it, I loved it.. win, win! Truly, so much fun and they've already started asking for "Wisconsin Milk", "Found a Peanut" and "Bazooka Bubblegum". See posts from last year for a couple powerpoint slide shows I made to go with Peanut and Bubblegum. If you don't know "Baby Shark".. well, it's a bit gruesome and you can just do the first 5 or 6 and not all of the "verses". If you don't know the song search on youtube and you'll find it. SO fun! My fourth graders sing the WHOLE song and the itty bitties sing up to "Grandpa Shark" which they think is so very funny! Have fun! Happy Camping!

Center Pictures

I have really loved implementing centers in music! I've found/developed several Orff-centered centers that have worked sooooo well. See previous posts for centers- these are pics of my kids "at work". Wish I could show you their faces- they have been having a BLAST!
